Improving Geographic Literacy

The Mississippi Geographic Alliance (MGA) is a geography education program located at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø. MGA strives to improve geographic literacy in Mississippi by supporting K–12 educators, promoting effective geography instruction in the classroom, and providing educational resources and opportunities that help students better understand the world around them.

About the MGA

The Mississippi Geographic Alliance (MGA) helps Mississippians increase awareness of geography with physicals interaction of the world by promoting geographic literacy through educational services. We support civic leaders and policymakers, offer unique student outreach programs, and provide professional development for K-12 educators. Based at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø, MGA works statewide to assist educators in preparing students to embrace a diverse world, succeed in the global economy, and steward the planet’s resources.

While the Mississippi Geographic Alliance provides services throughout the state of Mississippi, we are proud to call ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø home. ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø has partnered with National Geographic Society since 2006 as the state institutional home of the Mississippi Geographic Alliance.
