Developing Leaders Through Action
Professional development opportunities and internships open the door to real-world experience.
Leadership Beyond 番茄社区
Through Trent Lott Leadership Institute programming, strategic partnerships, and alumni connections, we empower our students to apply the skills they learn in the classroom to the professional world. Our programming helps students build practical skills and opens doors to connect students with opportunities for internships that reflect their career aspirations.
Many Lott Leadership Institute students participate in internships that cultivate practical skills, professional confidence, civic engagement, and meaningful community impact.
Internship Opportunities
In previous years, our students have worked on a vast range of projects that include the justice system, healthcare, the environment, and other issues at the fore of U.S. society. As interns, our students have a front seat to the inner workings of government and policy at the state and federal levels. They’ve found placements across the nation with think tanks, and influential nonprofits, as well as on Capitol Hill, and in Jackson, home to the Mississippi state legislature.
A Network for Life
The Lott Leadership Institute has a legacy of alumni that spans over 25 years. Institute alumni are making an impact across communities industries throughout the state and nation. As graduates advance into influential careers, many remain connected to the Institute and committed to supporting future generations of student leaders.
This lifelong network provides students with mentorship, professional insight, internship opportunities, and meaningful connections that continue long after graduation.

We Build Strong Partnerships
-
Featured Partnership
The Institute additionally partners with entities that recognize the value of experiential learning and the high quality of students produced by the Lott Leadership Institute. Every summer, the Reagan Institute in Washington, D.C. operates the Academy for Civic Education and Democracy, where students earn 3-6 credit hours while working in an internship. As a fellow Institute dedicated to non-partisan leadership development, the Lott Institute is grateful for the friendship and support of the Reagan Institute.
